ʻO ke ala nuʻukia o Kahuawaiola ka hoʻomākaukau ʻana i nā kumu Mauli Ola Hawaiʻi no ka hoʻonaʻauao ma o ka ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, no nā polokalamu aʻo ʻōlelo a moʻomeheu Hawaiʻi, a no nā kula e lawelawe ana no nā haumāna kuanaʻike Hawaiʻi.
The mission of Kahuawaiola is to prepare Mauli Ola Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian identity nurturing) teachers of the highest quality who are grounded in Hawaiian language and culture to serve in Hawaiian language medium schools, in Hawaiian language and culture programs in English medium schools, and in schools serving students with a strong Hawaiian cultural background.

Value of Cultural Identity: Demonstrate proficiency teaching in the Hawaiian language and culture while nurturing the whole learner within a culturally healthy and responsive learning environment.
ʻIke Hoʻokō: Hoʻononiakahi i ka haʻawina papa ma ka ʻike mauli Hawaiʻi a ma ke kahua ʻike hoʻonaʻauao no ka hoʻokele ʻana i ka holomua haumāna i loko o ka papa haʻawina holoʻokoʻa.
Value of Applied Achievement: Integrate classroom practices through a cultural understanding of the principles of learning, teaching and leadership necessary for guiding learners across the curriculum.
ʻIke Pilina: Hoʻokaʻaʻike me ka poʻe o ka honua kula mauli ola, ʻo ia hoʻi nā haumāna, nā mākua, nā luna, nā hoakumu, nā limahana kākoʻo, a me nā kānaka o ke kaiaulu o ia honua, ma luna o ke kahua ʻōlelo a moʻomeheu ʻōiwi.
Value of Relationships: Communicate effectively with the members of the school community—students, parents, administrators, faculty, staff, and community members in a culturally supportive manner.

Value of Intellect: Maintain and perpetuate Hawaiian educational processes, perspectives and meaningful experiences for the learner and within the learning environment through English and or Hawaiian for the benefit of all students.
ʻIke Kuanaʻike: Hoʻoikaika i ka noʻonoʻo a kuanaʻike Hawaiʻi a me ke kuanaʻike maʻiʻo ma ke ʻano he paepae ʻike e ulu ai ka mākaukau kumu a me ka naʻauao haumana.
Value of Cultural Perspective: Cultivate multiple perspectives that build conceptual content understanding from a Hawaiian lens from which to grow teacher quality and address student success.
